Service Recap for February 20-21

This past weekend Beta Epsilon had a couple of Service projects. Friday night Andrew, Nathaniel, Dave Webster, Justin, Alex and I went to a lock-in that was put on by Peoria First Church of the Nazarene. We went with the goal of being a good example of Christ to the high school kids, and to show them that growing older and going to college doesn’t mean losing God! It was at a parsonage, and they had everything pretty much cleared out except for a PA system. The kids brought in a four or five TV’s and set up a whole bunch of video games. We got there at 9 and hung out and played games for a couple hours, and after midnight there was a message, and a bunch of us helped lead some worship. That lasted till about 2 am, and most of us left shortly after that because we had another Service project the next morning. Andrew and Nathaniel stayed the whole night, way to go guys! There was a room in the house that was reserved as a Prayer room, and I know our guys were able to get into some pretty good conversations with the high school kids.
The next morning seven of us went to the Peoria Rescue Mission warehouse to volunteer. They had a truckload of dressers and desks that they just received from a hotel, and we worked moving those from the trailer to spots in the warehouse. Nothing like good, old-fashioned manual labor! We worked hard and got everything done in just over an hour, much less time then we though it would take.

Be Blessed,
Matt Russ
