My name is Matt Russ, and I am a junior electronic media major and religious studies minor from Elmhurst, Illinois. I have the honor and privilege of serving at the President of Sigma Theta Epsilon at Bradley University.
Sigma Theta Epsilon is a Christian Fraternity, and we are dedicated to the spiritual growth and development of our Brothers. Our foundation is rooted in
1 Corinthians 3.9: “For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building.” Joining Sigma Theta Epsilon means that you are dedicated and committed to pursuing God with all your heart. God does not call his people to be lukewarm, apathetic, or content in our relationship with Him (Revelation 3:15-16). God calls each of us to love him with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and all our strength (Mark 12:30).
Since the time that I pledged, the fraternity has grown spiritually together at retreats and Bible Studies, worshiped together, and prayed together. We have packed our house for parties, won intramural games, and twice been crowned the champions of Greek Week. We have served at homeless shelters and food banks, and spent time with the mentally handicapped and at a children’s home. What sets Sigma Theta Epsilon apart as a Fraternity is that we are unified as a Fraternity through Christ. What we do is not for our glory but His.
Brotherhood is also an enormous part of Sigma Theta Epsilon. The men of STE are there when I stand and they pick me up when I fall. I have learned from those who are older then me and try to help those who are younger then me along. Together we celebrate our joys and fight through our struggles. They are some of my closest friends. These men are the ones I call Brothers.
Our goal at Sigma Theta Epsilon is to grow closer to God, grow in Brotherhood with each other, and to develop Christian Leaders. It is our hope that you consider joining us.
In Christ,
Matt Russ
